Candy Container
Plastic candy container shaped like an orange, "Lucky Orange - Crunchy Candy", purchased at Fairway Market in Victoria for $9.88. Gold coloured with two green plastic leaves on the top. Turns on base, has red diamond on front with chinese writing. Inside is divided into five compartments. Small, multicoloured, individually wrapped bars of candy inside. Used to celebrate Year of the Rat, Chinese New Year, typical of those displayed in restaurants and homes. Illustrates celebration through food of the Chinese Lunar New Year in the Year of the 150th anniversary of B.C. Chinatowns. Candy was granular light brown rectangles approx. 3 cm x 1.5 cm x 1.5 cm.
