Souvenir Handkerchief
Remember. One of three embroidered silk handkerchief; pink silk with lace border; design is of a laurel wreath with the flags of Italy, France, Canada, Belgium, Imperial Russia, and the Kingdom of Montenegro. Donor believes Ernest Shillabeer embroidered handkerchiefs and sent them to his daughter Isabel Shillabeer (donor's aunt) of Victoria while he was still overseas. He enlisted in Edmonton 9 July 1915 and went overseas at age 31 in the 66th Battalion CEF. The flags were sewn and sent from France to his daughter in Victoria during the war.
