Souvenir Plate
Rim has border of oak leaves and acorns. In 1895 Canon Arthur Beanlands of Victoria undertook as part of the revision of the province's Great Seal, the design of a coat of arms for British Columbia. By 1904 correspondence had begun over this design as it used Royal arms without permission and had inadvertently breached protocol by placing the flag below the setting sun. A royal warrant was issued revising the design by Edward VIII in March 1906.
