White clay body with clear glossy glaze applied. Decoration consists of the green transfer image of the British Columbia coat of arms (a lion surmounting a shield which incorporates a crown at the top, a union jack, wave bands and the setting sun. the shield is flanked by a rearing deer on the left side and a rearing ram on the right. The animals and the shield sit atop a banner containing the words "SPLENDOR", "SINE", "OCCASU". The transfer image is placed near the outer edge of the plate and occurs in a gap in the banding. Banding consists of a wider navy blue band between two thin maroon color bands with hand applied outward curls at the ends. On bottom is a green transfer of the words "Furnivals'/English/Hotel Ware". Impressed into bottom is the number "40" and the maker's name "Furnival". The glaze is finely crazed overall.
